It was released as a single on September 29, 2020, with its music video.[1] It samples the drum break from Kanye West's song "Black Skinhead," from his 2013 album, Yeezus.

- On September 15, 2020, Why Don't We were reported to be recording in the studio.[2] On their social media, they posted a picture of themselves in the studio with the caption, "we're back."[3]
- On September 17, 2020, on their Twitter, Instagram, and website, they revealed the single title, cover and release date.[4] Five signed CDs were released, and within a few hours, they had completely sold out.[5]
- On September 24, 2020, Why Don't We released a snippet of the song on their TikTok, and posted it on their Twitter with the caption "6 days".[6]
