"Just Friends" is Why Don't We's third single of 2022, released on May 13, 2022. It follows the release of "Let Me Down Easy (Lie)", as Part 2 of their 2022 series.

A snippet of the track was first teased through the band's youtube on April 20, 2022,[1]and a pre-save link was announced on April 26. After a few weeks, they dropped the release date.[2]The music video was also released on the same day, filmed in Malibu and shot and directed by Antony Muse.
